Analyse a job advert without copying and pasting

A small Chrome and Edge add-on that reads the advert on the page you're looking at and opens the free Neuromine analysis with it already filled in.

How it works

  1. Open a job advert on Indeed, LinkedIn, Totaljobs, Reed, CV-Library or any other site.
  2. Click the Neuromine button in your browser toolbar — or highlight the advert, right-click, and choose Analyse this job advert with Neuromine.
  3. Neuromine opens in a new tab with the advert filled in and the analysis already running.

If it can't confidently find the advert, it falls back to whatever text you have highlighted — and tells you rather than analysing the wrong thing.

Install it

  1. Unzip the downloaded file.
  2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser.
  3. Turn on Developer mode, top right.
  4. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder.

It isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet, so this manual step is needed for now. Nothing about your normal browsing changes once it's installed.

Privacy, plainly

The add-on asks for the minimum Chrome permits: permission to read the tab you are on at the moment you click, permission to add the right-click menu item, and permission to talk to neuromine.co.uk. It cannot see other tabs, your history, or any page you don't click on. The analysis itself is the same free, no-sign-up analysis as on the homepage, and you can read exactly how it judges an advert in the methodology.

Known limits

  • LinkedIn changes its page structure often and hides some adverts behind a login — highlighting the advert is the reliable route there.
  • PDFs, browser settings pages and the Chrome Web Store cannot be read by any extension.
  • Adverts longer than 20,000 characters are shortened, the same limit as the website.

Common questions

Which browsers does the Neuromine add-on work in?

Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera and any other Chromium-based browser. It is built on Manifest V3. There is no Safari or Firefox version yet.

Which job sites does it recognise?

Indeed, LinkedIn, Totaljobs, Reed and CV-Library have dedicated rules that pull just the advert body. On any other site it uses the text you have highlighted, and failing that the main content block of the page.

What data does the add-on collect?

None. It has no access to your browsing history and does nothing until you click. When you do click, the advert text from that one page is sent to the Neuromine analyser — the same text you would otherwise paste in yourself. There is no account, no tracking and no advert storage tied to you.

Why do I have to switch on Developer mode to install it?

The add-on is not yet listed on the Chrome Web Store, so it installs as an unpacked extension. Once it is listed, installing will be a single click and updates will be automatic.

It says it can't find an advert — what now?

Highlight the advert text on the page with your mouse, then click the Neuromine button again. Highlighted text always takes priority. Some pages, including PDFs and browser settings pages, cannot be read by extensions at all.
